Nintendo Switch - Send to Smartphone
I had to write a small rant about this feature once I saw it was a thing and used it for the first time.
This is without a doubt one of the jankiest solutions I've ever seen. So you have to scan a QR code to connect to an adhoc network on the Switch, which isn't actually that terrible, other then having to fight with android to actually connect to the network, but that's Android not Nintendo. The jankiest bit is after that.
So you actually have to scan a second QR code to load a webpage, and it appears that you can only share one file at a time, and if you are going to do more then one file, well you gotta even rescan the wifi QR code.
So Cannon has been doing something similar on their DLSR cameras for a while, with my Rebel T6, the way it works is you connect to the wifi network, and you just need to have it saved, you can toggle this on and off no problem. However the difference is Canon uses an app which lets you browse all of the photos and video on the device.
Why does Nintendo hate their own app? Very few of their games even support the voice chat function, why not add the ability for it to pull screenshots and video from the device as well, and get more people to download the app, and maybe it will increase the apps user base.
Now while I appreciate the added ability to do this, so I don't have to send stuff to facebook or twitter, this could most certainly be improved.
Update: There is a way you can make it show the password, and it's a different password every single time. So you have to forget the network after each transfer.
